Fantastic show!
This will go down as one of the better shows I've been to, and I've been to a few. Toto sounded better than I thought they would and really got the house rocking. Then Journey came on and showed us all how it's supposed to be done. Some takeaways from the night... 1. Arnel IS the lead singer of Journey, not a Steve Perry replacement. He takes the classics and makes them sound the way you want them to and still makes them his own. 2. Deen Castronovo is a rock god! His version of Mother, Father was spot on and just incredible. 3. No matter what happens offstage, onstage these guys seem to still really enjoy playing their music together. At one point Neal even walked over to Jonathans riser as they were playing and gave him a smile and a nod that looked to me like "all good?" Jonathan smiled and nodded back. Arnel Pineda brings an energy that is lacking from a lot of bands this old. It's reminisent of going to a concert back in the day and watching David Lee Roth or Angus Young running and dancing around the stage. Plus Arnel shook my wifes hand when he ran around the outter floor seats so that's a bonus.
